As many as 35% of adults aged 40 years or older in the United States—approximately 69 million Americans—have experienced some form of vestibular dysfunction! One offender you’ve probably heard of… Vertigo. So what exactly is vertigo and how can you deal with it?
What is Vertigo?
Vertigo is a sensation of feeling off balance. It can feel like you’re being pulled in one direction, spinning, tilting, and/or swaying in two different directions. Vertigo can often cause things such as nausea, headaches, vomiting, sweating, ringing in the ears and/or abnormal eye movement. Symptoms can last a few minutes to a few hours often making everyday tasks difficult.
What Helps Vertigo?
A common cause of vertigo is inner ear issues! Because of this, we often recommend getting a chiropractic evaluation from Dr. Dan at our Appleton chiropractic office. Studies have shown that spinal manipulation can have many positive effects on vertigo. Often patients that suffer from vertigo have been found to have subluxations or misalignment’s at the base of their skulls.
Receiving regular chiropractic adjustments can help prevent vertigo re-occurrences.
